Join local beekeeper Bill Wiebalk at Sonoma Garden Park for a lesson in the ancient art of beekeeping. Topics to be discussed include how a bee colony operates, equipment needed to keep bees, how to harvest surplus honey, and the benefits of keeping bees without the use of pesticides.

To appreciate the taste and quality of honey produced without pesticides, a honey tasting will follow the discussion. There will also be an optional period after the seminar, from 12 to 1 p.m., during which Bill will perform a brief inspection of the hives. Those planning to stay for this portion must wear long pants, socks, close-toed shoes, and a light-colored long sleeve shirt. We will provide you with a veil and gloves.

Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 for Sonoma Ecology Center Members. To register for this event go to http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2915234. For more information, please contact Jane Nakasako at 707-996-0712, ext. 107 or jane@sonomaecologycenter.org.
