Van Hoosear Wildflower Preserve
Each spring, the rolling grasslands of Van Hoosear Preserve burst into a spectacular display of native wildflowers including California poppies, lupines, buttercups, shooting stars, and owl’s clover.
Sonoma Ecology Center and Sonoma County Ag + Open Space are excited to offer a series of ticketed, guided walks at the preserve throughout April and early May—free of charge, thanks to the voters of Sonoma County who support the work of Ag + Open Space with a quarter-cent sales tax.

Sugarloaf Ridge State Park
Spring is one of the most magical seasons at Sugarloaf. After winter rains, the park’s meadows are dotted with shooting stars and owl’s clover, and bright lupines line the trails. This spring, visitors to the park will get to witness the effects of good fire on the land and enjoy abundant regrowth in areas of the park that were treated during a June 2025 prescribed burn.
Sugarloaf Ridge State Park docents offer guided Wildflower Walks all throughout spring and early summer, but spaces fill up quickly!
