This
project focuses on the revegetation of native plants along the upper
reach of Nathanson Creek that flows through an organic vineyard.
With funding from the California Department of Fish and Game and
the help and permission of the landowner, invasive plant species
have been removed, wire revetments removed, and over 400 native
plants, and over 200 willow stakes have been planted.
Invasive species and wire revetments along the banks were removed
to allow for the establishment of native plants and to help stabilize
creek banks. Two planting days were completed with community members
and science students from Sonoma Valley High School. Another planting
day facilitated by the Southern Sonoma County Resource Conservation
District was done with the FARMS program (Farming, Agriculture,
Resource Management for Sustainability) a group of students from
multiple high schools interested in agriculture and the environment.
