Dozens of Sonoma birding teams, with a full range of experience, rain or shine, will once again hike, bike and boat the mountains and marshlands of the Valley of the Moon and the Petaluma Wetlands, searching for the 180 plus species of winter and migrating birds known to this area. THIRD ANNUAL SONOMA VALLEY BIRD COUNT
FOR KIDS
Join other young naturalists for a half day of birding followed by a brown bag lunch and a tabulation celebration! Approx. ten teams of six kids (Ages 8-14) will work with experienced adult birders in assigned areas with unique habitats and a common bird list. Organizations or school classes are welcomed to sponsor a birding team. Adults are welcomed to come along, transport birding teams and observe, from a distance, the young birders in action. Renowned natural sound recordists, Bernie Krause, will be our special guest presenter at the tabulation lunch celebration at the Sonoma Comunity Center 276 East Napa St. in Sonoma. Inagural meeting of the Maxwell Farms Regional Park Stewardship.
Join Stewardship Leader Mallory Davenport, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley, Sonoma County Regional Parks, and Sonoma Ecology Center. Meet at the Boys & Girls Clubs Building, Maxwell Farms Regional Park, 100 Verano Avenue in Sonoma.
We are looking for people of every age and physical ability who want to join the stewardship and volunteer in the park. Discussion topics will include opportunities to beautify the park and how to engage and enrich the children, and we want to hear your ideas!

Rose Care, Pruning & Planting AT SONOMA GARDEN PARK
This Rose Care, Pruning & Planting workshop will be facilitated by Maile Arnold. Ms. Arnold has 30 years of experience as a landscape designer. She has also has been a featured speaker at garden clubs in Sonoma and Marin Counties, taught classes for Strybring Arboretum, St. Joseph’s Hospital Educational Program, and Emerisa Gardens, and has been featured in Sunset Magazine. The class will offer a lecture, a sesson on tool care and sharpening, and a hands-on workshop for pruning and planting. Attendees are encouraged to bring pruners, loppers and gloves.
